CREATIVE ENCOUNTER: NINI CHITDAZE

"ANDROGYNY IS HUMAN PERFECTION"

A photographer & stylist, Nini Chitadze a Georgian-born, US green card lottery winner who fled oppression in eastern Europe and now resides in New york city. Embracing the freedom of expression and individually Nini’s journey and I met Nini by chance, walking down a small street in the LES and passed by Carolina Sarria and a painting on the wall caught my eye and when I looked down cutest baby Italian Greyhound. Nini was working that day in her friend’s shop and after gagging about how adorable Jasper was a random question sparked a 1 1/2 conversation.

You’re a great stylist and photographer, How has New York inspired your creativity?

I think the harsh fact that you are replaceable in New York has pushed me a lot in life. I always try to just be me wherever I go, and honestly NY is the best place to be for people like me who wants to be challenged and be better every single day.

Your photos are so great and have a common theme of androgyny. Was this intentional?

Not really. It’s very much who I am. I love beauty and always look for it. Also, I’m a perfectionist and I find it in a balance. Androgyny is a human perfection if you ask me.

You have accomplished a lot of great work with I-d and individually. What keeps you in a creative state?

I haven’t really thought about it. The creative process has always been part of me cause I really hate to be bored.

What message do u have for the creative people who claim to be artists but complain that they aren’t getting the results they want.

think some people have to stop being overly critical about their work. Sometimes you just have to chill and right audience will come to you. I promise! There’s always someone for anyone you know what I mean? Especially in NY.

Why photography?

Photography honestly is the best way to express the beauty, the moment, the mood right time right place. Never disappoints

Where do u see yourself in 10 years?

I really hope I will own my own magazine to empower women from third world patriarchal realities. I hope I get to write and preach but also I hope in 10 years the women’s freedom won’t be an issue whatsoever.
