CREATIVE CRUSH: DANIEL ARSHAMBROOKLYN BASED ARTIST
THE FUTURE IS NOW…
Daniel Arhsam a color blind artist and lover of archeology who’s merged that of our past with the future in his ongoig series.
The Brooklyn based artist created by taking the items we are familiar with more specifically technology. Old cassette tapes, cameras, and old telephones. Things often related to technology that many of us have an intimate and physical relationship.
Daniel Arsham previously collaborated with Pharrell Williams and produced a set of sculptures. The project centered around the Casio MT-500. A relatively obscure keyboard instrument, but that which was formative in Pharrell’s legendary career.
Daniel Arsham is a creative genious. ‘Future Relics’ is just some of a greater whole of creative genious. Mixing science, creativity, architecture art and performance all in one.
Creating pieces that appear to have been found in the future in an archeological site.
Through combining undertone elements of the past and present to create a less removed experience of the “future.”
Arsham’s remaking this pieces in materials that convey time. Using things like volcanic ash, crystal and rusted steel. Which is intended to take objects of our past and project them into the future.

For the seventh edition of the decaying series, Arsham is embracing another iconic design: Sony’s Walkman.
Imagining the Walkman II, to be exact, the new work not only includes the tape player, but includes headphones, too — of which are imagined with a hypothetical excavation date of 2079.
